Ankle X's

Probably half of my friends have either fucked their ankles up in the past, or will in the next week or so(a prediction based upon how frequent this seems to happen...) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of any excercises and/or stretches that could help to speed-up the healing process and/or help to re-condition a person's ankle(as much as possible.)

I'm gonna surf the net for some answers in a few, but I figured it wouldn't hurt if we had some replies up here for quick reference to future Mentalists.

Filming!!!

I just moved from my downtown pad in SF to Potrero Hill literally two blocks from 3rd and army. I love to film (made sponsor-me vids for kids at home on SOCAL) and haven't done it in a while. If anyone wants to and skate, I'm down to be there to film it. I have a three chip with a wide angle and easy access to 24p and 16mm (I'd like to shoot some good slow 16). I just shot some scenic 16 stuff at 3rd and army that would cut together well with footy for a little 3rd and army montage. On top of all that I have a full editing/sound suite at home and even more stuff at work making it easy to send out to friends and sponsors. In short, I want to take advantage of my location and get out and film more. Hit me up on BM...

DAMN THE MAN!

This is a call to arms against all heavily funded government programs (i.e. the Mission Urban Arts After School Program @ the CELLspace) that are essentially a farce.

This afternoon, I witnessed 3 adult program directors actually turn a 9 year old boy away from an after school skate program, due to the fact he was underage.

Zack (9yo), the raddest little guy you'll ever meet, received his first lesson in urban civics today - 'Using the plight of the Mission District youth to help raise money for other more important adult programs'.

The CELLspace's Mission Statement:

CELLspace provides a safe and supportive public environment for the exploration of art, education, performance and community building. Through cooperative relationships and multi-disciplinary programs, we encourage the celebration of intergenerational and cross-cultural collaborations.

....that is, EXCEPT for 9 year olds. The program is only for 13-17 year olds. Hmmmmmmm. One wonders if the 'powers that be' realized that MOST youth in our particular hood are recruited to gang related activities by the age of 10.

To make a long story short. Zack was banned from the program and asked to not return. Luckily his mother and I, have already planned to hook-up the little man with some local pros in the area to do some SERIOUS after school skating.

Side note: You can check out Zack in Thrasher's Skater of the Year Video as a young Jake Phelps. Come to think of it...we might have a potential skate mag Editor-In-Training. With more incidents like the aforementioned...you best believe it!

DAMN THE MAN! Share your thoughts here or let CELLspace and the MUA Program know we're paying attention....

Help Lafayette Build A Park!

The city of Lafayette, IN recently dropped their plan to build a skatepark due to statewide budget cuts. So the DIY-selfers over at the Lafayette Riders Association have taken the project over from the city.

Things they need: concrete, rebar, backfill, $$$, etc.

If you'd like to send donations, materials or general words of encouragement please send them to:

The new & improved forums

We have transferred as much of the old forums as we possibly could...it was a huge pain in the ass and we lost some content. Like, all the comments. So...please, carry on where you left off and try to pretend that the comments aren't really missing. There might be a few missing topics also. But hey, we're not perfect, ok?
